This post is about some companies which I’m interested in.
I prefer to work in China, as it is a familiar environment for me.
Currently， the main animation media in China are 2D and 3D, but my limited skill in 3D modelling, I prefer to pursue work with a 2D studio if I work in the animation industry.
My first choice is HMCH. Its output covers films, TV series and comics. Its representative work is The Legend of Hei. The company’s previous recruitment scope included animation post-production, 2D production and scene design. The scope of work in animation post-production includes compositing, color grading and effects. 2D production involves background painting and animators. Among them, I am more interested in trying original art, which is the closest to my course character animation. The reason why I like this studio, firstly, I think the owner of the studio, the director, is a very reliable person. The studio’s TV and comics have been serialised for many years without narrative collapse or breakdown, maintaining a closed-loop structure and consistent coherence. The overall planning is very well-planned, and the quality is getting better and better. His attitude towards work is very responsible, which really touched me. Secondly, the working atmosphere of this company is very good, and all the employees are full of enthusiasm for creation. I think working in such a studio will be more influenced by the surrounding employees and become more positive. However, the studio only recruits in the early stage of each new project, so the timing is very important.
Fliiip Design is also an animation studio I’m very interested in joining. This is a relatively new studio and is very active in recruiting new staff. It has a long-term internship program called ‘Intern Star Works’, which is open for application throughout the year. The main work content is to participate in project practice and explore non-commercial short film animations, and there is a chance to be a regular employee. I think this studio is very friendly to newcomers. Moreover, since this studio has participated in many outsourcing projects and has a diverse style, it provides numerous opportunities for exploration and improvement. Although I prefer to be an animator, since this studio mostly produces short films, I am also willing to try things like character design, storyboard, and director.
